Socks & Clothing

SOCKS:
Every child is different, so you may want to experiment with several kinds of socks to see what will work best for you.  The key is to find socks that are tall enough to fold over the back piece of the boot.  You also don't want them to be bunchy, and you want no-skid bottoms.
  • Cat & Jack Bobbie Socks (from Target) We love these. They are tall & thin & have worked very well for us.
  • Garanimals Triple Roll (from Walmart) We also love these.  Tall & thin.
  • H&M Preemie Size You can order these in size 000 if your baby has really tiny feet!
  • Old Navy triple-roll (online only) We find that these run much baggier than Cat & Jack/Garanimals
  • Gap Triple Roll
  • SmartKnitKIDS Seamless Socks
  • Hank & JoJo
  • Black Robins
  • Judanzy
  • Okie Dokie (from JC Penney)
  • Mesh laundry bags (below) will help prevent these precious socks from being eaten by the washing machine!
CLOTHES:
  • The main thing is that a lot of footie onesies will not fit over the thick casts (unless you buy bigger sizes), and footie onesies won't work with B&B (unless you cut the footie part).  Don't despair, though!  A lot of stores sell adorable snap-up onesies that work great!  Be sure to check secondhand shops, too, for some great deals.
  • Legless onesies with leg warmers work well for casts and B&B.  During colder weather, anything that snaps up the legs (no feet) should work.  Loose-fitting pants work with casts and B&B, as well.

Here's what we used for sleeping:
  • Before casts: Swaddlers & a couple of footie onesies
  • During casting: Gowns with elastic around the bottom.
  • B&B: Sleep sacks.  These offer some protection for the crib, as babies tend to like to whack their B&B - hard! - on any & all surfaces.
Sleep Sacks: Look for ones like this, that have a wide base. We have had great luck finding sleep sacks at baby consignment stores for a fraction of the price!
B&B BAR COVERS:
It's a good idea to make or purchase a cover to snap over the bar on the B&B.  This will provide some extra padding, which will protect your baby's forehead and anything else that comes in contact with the bar (babies love to smash their B&B up and down forcefully!).  We purchased ours through BabyBumblebeeShop and love it.  Many parents have also been happy with Clubfoot Accessories by Peek-a-Boo Covers and 26th Ave. Clubfoot Bar Covers.

BABY LEG WARMERS:
Before your first casting appointment, it’s a good idea to purchase some baby leg warmers.  You can find them on several websites, including Amazon (see above), babylegs.com, babyleggings.com, huggalugs.com, and judanzy.com These can be placed over the casts and will do a few things:
1.) They’ll protect the casts from getting dirty, in the event of a diaper blowout
2.) They’ll prevent the casts from knocking into each other, if your baby has bilateral clubfoot (meaning, both feet are affected)
3.) They’ll give some padding so the casts won’t scratch or chafe the other leg (if your baby has unilateral clubfoot) or you, as you’re holding or feeding your baby
4.) They look fashionable!
5.) They make it less obvious that your baby has casts on his or her legs, so you can avoid questions if you don't want to answer them
Baby leg warmers also make it easier to change diapers once your baby is in B&B.
